Alison Fountain Counselling

Looking for counselling support for yourself or someone you know?

My name is Alison Fountain and I am a BACP accredited counsellor with 13 years post qualifying experience.

I offer one-to-one counselling support to young people (11-19) and also to adults at any time of life. I work with a wide range of issues including loss, change, anxiety, low mood, self-esteem, depression and trauma (these are just some examples rather than a definitive list!).

I offer counselling by phone, remotely or in person from a therapy room in Market Weighton, East Yorkshire.

I have worked as a counsellor for a former Local Authority young people's counselling service (2012-2025) and prior to this, I worked as a Connexions Personal Advisor in schools across the East Riding.

I have developed a particular specialism supporting neurordivergent individuals and their families and offer a neuroaffirming practice. As a SEND parent myself, I understand the complexities of navigating the education system and of the toll it can take on young people and on parental mental health.

Please feel free to contact me. I offer a free no obligation 30 minute discussion by phone so you can find out more about how I may be able to help you.  â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

Why counselling?

How can counselling help?

Who do you support?

Do you ever feel unable to express your true thoughts and feelings to those closest to you? Do you worry that you might burden or overwhelm others?  â€‹

Maybe you've tried speaking to someone before and their response was hurtful or certainly unhelpful.

Do you ever sense that people don't understand you or fully appreciate what you're feeling or going through?

Counselling can help you!

Counselling provides a safe space where you can talk about the things that are on your mind. Sessions are scheduled weekly at a time that works for you either by phone, online or in person.

Counselling offers a supportive therapeutic relationship in which you are able to process issues and concerns that are troubling you. We do this in collaboration and with upmost respect.

We regularly take time to reflect on your experience of counselling and to check that the pace of our conversation seems right for you. If you don't find our sessions useful you're really encouraged to say so. You're also free to end the sessions at any time.

A lot of people are initially anxious about beginning counselling but later describe the "huge relief" it has felt to access the support.

It can be incredibly refreshing to speak openly in counselling, especially if you've kept things to yourself for a long time!

I offer counselling to adults and young people (11-19) on a weekly basis either by phone, online or in person at a therapy room in Market Weighton, East Yorkshire. I have 13 years counselling experience and have experience of supporting individuals with a wide range of issues.    â€‹

No matter how big or small you consider the issue to be, if it's affecting you, you'd be very welcome to talk with me about it.
