About the services I offer:
Humanistic/Integrative Counselling
My counselling approach is humanistic/integrative and I integrate the person centred approach and transactional analysis.
My approach is client-centered, empathic, and non-judgmental. I believe in creating a safe and supportive space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings.

I encourage you to reflect on what is working well and balance that with any changes you're wanting to make. We take the sessions at your pace and I follow your lead, being sure to check-in with you if ever I'm unclear so that I gain better understanding.
I relate to you as a compassionate person that hears and values you. I am not a robot nor a brick wall and your words will not fall on deaf ears!
I trust you will find me to be a very warm, present and supportive counsellor.
About the costs
Fees are charged at £45 per session (sessions are 50 minutes).
Please give 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or change an appointment or the full fee may be charged.
My availability
I am currently available on Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 5.30pm and 9pm. I am also available on Saturday afternoons.

Appointments are offered by phone, online or in person at a therapy room in Market Weighton, East Yorkshire.

Please note, I can only offer online and telephone counselling to clients who are resident in the UK.
The purpose of counselling
I consider you to be the expert of you!
You won't therefore see me with a clipboard in sessions taking copious notes. Sessions are relaxed yet professional.
I trained as a counsellor because I truly care about the wellbeing of others and consider it a real privilege whenever a client trusts me with their story. You can expect to be valued and respected in our sessions together as we talk and process the thoughts and feelings linked to some of your most difficult, troubling or challenging life experiences. I follow your lead and invite you to share only what you're ready and wanting to share with me.

Counselling is relational rather than clinical. As counselling is less about 'doing' and more about 'being', the change you're looking to make will likely be subtle yet deeply profound. For example, you may notice that your relationships at home begin to improve, you have fewer arguments with friends or loved ones, you have more good days than bad days and you are better able to recognise and understand your own feelings, choosing how you will respond to stressful situations rather than reacting.

It's likely in the months and years following the end of the counselling support that you will increasingly recognise the ways in which talking has benefited you.
My hope is that counselling will help to improve your self-esteem, increase your confidence in navigating life and help you in strengthening your most valued relationships.
